RRR SDA is a team of shop workers who want to make the SDA relevant again.
We want to hold the leadership accountable.
They are responsible for our low wages and lack of conditions.
Our Union must fight for improved wages and conditions.

Did anyone hear about how Coles and the SDA are about to screw all of the meatroom staff.
ReplyDeleteYes, they want to take all of there entitlements off them just like they did to all of the shop assistants all those years ago...SHAME ON THEM!
I hered the same at my store . the SDA is negotiating behind closed doors again to lower the conditions of the meet workers. i think the sda need to do this to reduce the meet workers conditions so as they dont have to suffer the embarisment of a small section of the store recieving beter wages conditions and hours of work than the rest of the store.
ReplyDeleteI was given a copy of the RRR SDA GROUP's Newsletter. The accusations could not possibly be true, no Union would negotiate a new agreement without the knowledge or input from its members. Our store rep would not be such a deceitful process. Our SDA rep whom I have known for years would not be such of a dishonest action. I am aware of the accusations of dishonesty that have been leveled at the SDA but I find the contents of the newsletter unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteMr Tony Bourke has very little to do with the negotiations. My organizer told me it is being done by the state secretary and his side kicks (industrial officers). Not sure how much of this is accurate.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to that, as the store delegate for the SDA i have been made to understand that the negotiations are alot tougher this time then they have been in the past because of westfarmers being very anti union as they are from the UK & wanted the unions to have nothing to do with coles when they took over. The only reason they agreed to the negotiations is because they saw the SDA has a major membership base in coles. West farmers wanted to finalize the agreement months ago but the SDA refused because it was not good enough for them hence why it is being dragged on so long.
ReplyDeleteApologize for the delay in responding, been having major computer problems, had to save the money to get it fixed.
ReplyDeleteWestfarmers is an Australian company, it is true that the Coles division have imported a large number of executives from England as well as store managers from South Africa and a number of Safeway has-beens.
I was under the impression that the SDA was actually the largest union in Australian with more members and wealth than anybody else. I also thought that the SDA had been dealing with Westfarmers for a number of years and in the past had negotiated and registers a number of Bunnings agreements.
All final decisions in relation to agreements are signed off by Westfarmers.
I hope what you say is true, that the SDA is holding out for a better deal. I would consider a better deal to consist of the five percent wage rise Donovan promised us, but unfortunately I have little faith in his ability to negotiate as a long term supermarket employee I remember the penalty rates. We had after 6, the Saturday penalties, and the 200% on Sundays. I am fearful of what we are about to lose this time. Also I would point out that once the SDA gives up all the conditions, the company will have no further need for them. Nothing to sell, no rise to get.
Why you as group negotiate or make a good agreement to put forward to Coles with better conditions for the workers maybe the workers will agree with you instead of the union agreement..
ReplyDeleteTo the people who have suggested we engage in the facebook and twitter, we would appreciate, those who have the knowledge to do such things to activate these sites, start stimulating fellow members to take an interest.
ReplyDeleteIf anybody have any friends or relatives in the media please direct them to our site as we badly need assistance explaining to our sda members what is going on.
my wife is a sda rep and thinks that the eba is a joke is dose not even cover cpi what a joke.
ReplyDeletecongratulations to the CFMEU on your 5% pay increase per year for the next 4 years. Could we please join your union and get to you to achieve a similar result for us. Our union is a very wealthy union and we are sure we can make better use of our wealth to improve our conditions, unlike the useless, incompetent group of people running the SDA who have completed our recent Coles Agreement. I understand not one working person or delegate or even our reps on the road attended. All done by Mr. De Bryen.
