You may be right that the act says we cannot interfere with electoral material but in saying that we cannot place things on the SDA notice board that is no official SDA material.

The noticeboards belong to the members. Both Mr. Donovan and any other candidate have equal right to post things on the board during election. All relevant information in relation to the SDA is entitled to be posted on the board and what can be more important than election material? If there is any interference with any election information either notify the Electoral Commission or place a post on this site so all members will be aware who these people are and what stores they work in.

i am the candidate running against Donovan and am running my campaign alone and unfunded. The SDA are saying that i am being funded by the Meatworkers Union which is a lie and anybody passing this around will be held accounted for.All i ask is a fair go my own employer (woolworths) will not even allow me to hand out flyers let alone post them and even the AEC cannot do anything about this as i have checked with them already. The task is huge but if we all pull in the same direction i think we can give them a shake.Regards Sam Mete(The New SDA There For You)lets make this the workers union not the unions workers

Sam Mete, the accusations leveled at you by Mr. Donovan of the SDA is not unexpected. He made a similar accusation in a newsletter that was sent to all SDA delegates in May, 2010 slandering the Meatworkers Union. The actions of Woolworths are not unexpected, their joint attack on the Meatworkers Union started when the Meat Union became aware that the SDA and Woolies had written a secret agreement under the Workchoices legislation. Their intention was to register the Agreement on the last day of Workchoices but their plan was discovered and the meat union reacted by way of court action to protect the penalties and the conditions in their Agreement.

We understand that the Meat Union circulated numerous newsletters explaining Donovan's deceitful behaviour which has caused extreme embarrassment and condemnation from the Union community.

In relation to you being funded by the Meatworkers Union you may not be aware Sam that a conversation you had with a Meat Union rep on 13th October,2009 appears to have been recorded in which the rep showed you a copy of the new Woolworths Agreement, the one the company was denying existed and the one that the SDA informed you and other delegates did not exist. Unknown to yourself the information that took place in the lunchroom in front of numerous Woolies employees has been used to restrict the access and the movements of the Meat Union rep. The rep involved, we understand, has no malice towards you as he realises that you were not aware of the what the company and the SDA were up to.

I think Mr. Donovan would have to be stretching the truth to think that the Meatworkers Union would financially support an SDA delegate who has been instrumental in the rep's restrictions. This can be verified by instructions in the store manager's office, talking to meat staff many of whom have sighted the documents in relation to your private conversation.

Unfortunately, Woolworths and the SDA and other major employers would be fearful of you becoming the secretary because your intention of restoring the conditions would undermine their secret arrangements.

Sam Mete's main aim is to restore our lost weekend penalty rates. I cannot believe that this is only coming up now. I work Saturday's and have been for almost 2 years now, I would so appreciate a penalty rate for it. It is way overdue. I know how im voting.

I implore every SDA member to vote out "Dodgy" Donovan (And that random sheila who appears next to him on their dodgy electoral propaganda newsletters). After what that guy has done to our agreement in safeway meatrooms, He deserves a bit more than to be sacked... But it'll do! Sam, If I could vote, it'd be all yours, buddy! Goodluck...

You obviously don't understand the purpose of the site which was to promote the democratic process by giving people the opportunity to exercise free speech when they don't have the resources of Mr. Donovan's Victorian Branch of the SDA. I would point out that Mr. Donovan, in the recent election, sent out two glossy expensive "vote for me" brochures, a black and white newsletter, a text message to every individual member followed by phonecalls to individual members, the last one is referred to in political terms as push polling, which is seen as a dubious form of campaigning. The opposition in this recent election only managed to produce a handout newsletter which, we understand, he had problems distributing. Not having membership addresses, those did manage to find their way into workplaces were being confiscated by the companies and SDA reps. The blog site was an attempt to create an even playing field.

The site will continue to assist candidates in the future for other positions within the SDA, not only in the state of Victoria but every other state and territory in Australia. The RRR SDA Group invited Mr. Donovan on many occasions to lay out his future direction for the SDA members and encouraged him and the opposition candidate to put forward their policies in relation to the future and also to try and obtain a commitment from both sides of the election to restore conditions we have lost in the past.

The site has had numerous enquiries and statements regarding members' treatment in their workplaces both on the commenting section as well as via email, expressing ill will towards one of the candidates. We will continue to block these personal comments as this is not the function of the site.

We ask people to visit the site on a regular basis for updates and invite you to contribute appropriate information accordingly.

To our interstate members feel free to use the site in promoting candidates for future elections. We will continue to create an opportunity for underfunded groups to exercise their democratic rights.

thank you to all who voted for me in the recent election.I received just under 10% of the vote with 1411 votes to Donovans 12891.The interesting point here is that over 28000 did not vote at all.In my mind that is a warning to Donovan and co that next time they may well vote and boot him out.Lets hope.I was outspent big time in this election but i will get behind or be a part of the next one so get on board now guys

my aim is simple.Restore our lost conditions .The only way to do this is by doubling our membership.Only 43000 retail workers are members of the SDA.That is pathetic. It should be at least 100000.If we can reach that figure we will be able to fight for better conditions.I also want full adult pay for 18yo workers and improved superannuation. These are just a few of many ideas i have. Please contact me at sam.mete@bluekeyfinance.com.au for any suggestions and ideas
