RRR SDA is a team of shop workers who want to make the SDA relevant again.
We want to hold the leadership accountable.
They are responsible for our low wages and lack of conditions.
Our Union must fight for improved wages and conditions.

ReplyDeleteWho are you? Why don't you identify your selves? How can you gain support when we we don't know who you are? How can we decide whether to support you or not? Why would we resign from the SDA when you can't help us if we did? How do we know that you are a valid alternative? Please answer via this site.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Who we are as individuals is not important. The important thing is that the site which has been created for the use of all people with goodwill and SDA members. Our aim is not to promote ourselves or paid positions within the SDA. To do so, would undermine the credibility of the site and leave us open to accusations of self-promotion. The original group which started the site has changed over the last 12 months with some leaving and some coming in. All costs in association of maintaining the site is borne by this group. If the SDA executive or the companies were to become aware of our identities they would use the Australian legal system to close the site down. This would be achieved by injunctions, Federal court actions. We do not have the resources to fight such battles. So we will remain anonymous and hope that our site will encourage people of goodwill to take a greater interest in the union by getting the right people in positions of delegate, organisers and state secretaries. The major obstacle to any progress is the position of federal secretary owing to the fact that the SDA is a top down organisation as opposed to a worker up situation. The site will pass from hand to hand into the future for the use of everybody in retail.
ReplyDeleteThe suggestion in relation to resignation is meant as a way of drawing attention to the plight of membership. If you can think of another way for the leadership to take note of what people on the floor think please put it forward. An alternative outcome would be to encourage present people within the SDA system to stand for elected positions. This also has its problems - if a person were to declare themselves to be seeking elected positions the current leadership would crush them.
The site is for all people to put their message across with the aim of improving and returning our lost conditions.
We would be grateful for any suggestions and would support any member wishing to assist us in this process.
The promotion of the existence of the site would help any future leaders to gain positions without incurring the crippling costs. It has been estimated that when the last secretary in the state of Victoria ran for election he had the use of the union facilities and an amount of money in excess of $150,000 was spent on newsletters, stamps and phonecalls. The free labour he had at his beck and call were to be costed would be at tens of thousands more. Please promote the site, use the site and encourage good people within the SDA to take control at future elections.
